Having read the Cole McGinnis series (what there is so far) I recognize some of Rhys Ford formulas at work. In a good way. This was a like read, not a love read. Kane and the Morgan clan overall carried this for me. Clever writer, Rhys Ford is, she now has a deep bench of characters to draw upon for future stories. Miki St. John on the other had, really didn't do much for me.
