2.5 flying stars. This book was my mother's pick for her book club. I don't attend her book club, but I sometime read the books she chooses so we can do some mother-daughter book bonding. This is fictionalized memoir of Mrs. Charles Lindbergh, starting with her courtship and ending right after the death of her husband. The author does a great job in portraying Charles Lindbergh as the supreme arsehole that he was. Unfortunately her portrayal of Anne Morrow Lindbergh was wishy-washy and annoying. When we first meet Anne as a college student, she was self-described as simple and plain and did not seem to have any special life aspirations. Then out of the blue she said she to wanted to do something (oh I don't know what) important with her life and did not want to go the typical wife and mother route. Right after as she told her brother "I don't need a hero" guess what happened? Lucky Lindy phoned her up to ask her out on a date. It just goes on and on like this. Which is a shame because Anne Lindbergh did do some interesting things and was an accomplished writer.
