Enjoyed this book quite a bit. I don't know if there ever was a story that combined the themes of Herman Melville and baseball, this book is that. As odd as it sounds, it worked. The book followed the formula of setting characters and their predicaments, then set the underpinnings of the conflicts among them, and ultimately all came to a head. The resolution was reasonably predictable, but not unsatisfying. The writing style seemed slightly indulgent, reminiscent of author: Jonathan Franzen.
