If you like the idea of time travel but can't stomach Outlander, you should check this out. Interesting take on the 'what would I do' trope where a 20th century African American woman is jettisoned back to antebellum Maryland. Needless to say, issues of gender and race are front and center. This author writes protagonists that are both highly realistic and remarkable.
