Me at the start of this book: Oh crap, mummy wars. I’m going to hate this.
Me soon thereafter: Hmm, these characters are not what I expected.
Me the rest of the way: What the hell happened at that trivia night event?
Me at the end: Heh, tidy ending, that's nice.
This was not only a who-done-it, but also a who-done-what type of story. There’s a bit of time shifting that happens, and you are exposed to a boatload of characters, so there is an adjustment to the storytelling techniques used. It was this is well done and fast paced and I was pleasantly surprised.
Audiobook note – terrific narration by Australian Caroline Lee. She has a throaty, squeaky sort of voice which sounds like it would be terrible, but it’s not. She has great pacing, expression, and character distinction, all of which are important.
Artwork note - For some reason, my audiobook had this artwork, which I like better than any of the others listed on Goodreads or Booklikes. It was a library check out from OneClickDigital and I haven’t seen it anywhere else.
